General Description

The DAT4540R is an isolated frequency input converter designed to accept signals up to 20 kHz from a wide range of sensor types, including TTL, Namur, NPN, PNP, and tachometers. It converts the frequency signal into a proportional analog output either current or voltage depending on the configuration. The “-R” version includes two relay outputs, which can be independently programmed as trip alarms.

For Namur-type sensors, the DAT4540R continuously monitors the signal integrity. In the event of a fault condition such as wire break or short circuit an alarm is activated via the dedicated transistor output, enhancing system reliability and safety monitoring.

The device ensures high measurement accuracy and long-term stability across a wide temperature range. Configuration can be done via dip-switches located on the side of the unit for selecting input type, frequency range, and output signal, all without the need for recalibration. Full parameter customization is also possible through PC programming using dedicated software.

Complete galvanic isolation is provided between input, output, and power supply, effectively eliminating ground loop issues and allowing operation in harsh industrial environments. The unit is housed in a compact 12.5 mm DIN rail enclosure, compliant with EN-50022 and EN-50035 standards.

Frequently Asked Questions about DAT4540R

What type of frequency inputs does the DAT4540R support?
The DAT4540R supports digital frequency signals up to 20 kHz from TTL, Namur, NPN, PNP, and tachometer sensors.
What output signals are available on the DAT4540R?
The device can be configured to output either a voltage or current signal. The “-R” version additionally includes two programmable relay outputs.
How are the relay outputs used?
The two relays on the “-R” version of the DAT4540R can be programmed independently as trip alarms, based on input frequency thresholds.
Does the DAT4540R detect sensor faults?
Yes, when using a Namur input, the DAT4540R continuously monitors the sensor. If a short circuit or wire break is detected, an alarm is triggered on the relay output.
How is the DAT4540R configured?
Configuration can be done using onboard dip-switches for basic settings like input type and output range, or via PC software for full parameter programming.
Is the DAT4540R galvanically isolated?
Yes, the input, output, and power supply sections are fully isolated from one another to eliminate ground loop issues in industrial environments.
What type of mounting does the DAT4540R support?
The device is designed for DIN rail mounting in accordance with EN-50022 and EN-50035 standards, and has a slim 12.5 mm enclosure.
