General Description

The DAT511V2 is a compact, high-performance 4–20 mA loop-powered isolator designed to provide galvanic isolation between input and output signals. It is widely used in industrial automation systems to prevent ground loops and electrical interference when connecting field instruments to control room equipment.

Powered directly from the 4–20 mA input signal, the DAT511V2 requires no external power supply, minimizing installation cost, complexity, and wiring. It consumes only 5 V from the loop, making it compatible with most low-power systems while preserving signal integrity across long distances.

The device is ideal for isolating signals from sensors and transmitters such as flow meters, pH meters, pressure transmitters, and temperature transmitters. On the receiving end, it interfaces seamlessly with PLCs, panel indicators, chart recorders, and DCS systems, ensuring safe and accurate signal transmission.

Its slim housing occupies only 22.5 mm (approximately 7/8 of an inch) on a DIN rail, making it well-suited for space-constrained control panels or instrumentation enclosures.

Frequently Asked Questions about DAT511V2

What does the DAT511V2 do?
The DAT511V2 provides galvanic isolation between a 4–20 mA input and output, preventing ground loops and protecting devices on either side of the signal path.
Is the DAT511V2 loop powered?
Yes, it is powered entirely by the 4–20 mA input signal and requires no external power source.
How much voltage does the DAT511V2 consume?
The device requires only 5 V from the current loop to operate, making it efficient and compatible with most loop-powered systems.
What equipment is it typically used with?
Common field devices include flow meters, pH sensors, pressure transmitters, and temperature transmitters. Control room devices include PLCs, chart recorders, panel meters, and DCS systems.
How much space does it occupy on a DIN rail?
The DAT511V2 has a slim profile and occupies approximately 22.5 mm (7/8 inch) on a standard DIN rail, ideal for compact control panels.
Why is isolation important in a 4–20 mA loop?
Isolation eliminates ground loops and reduces noise or fault currents, which improves signal accuracy and protects connected devices.
